Door knocking is still a habit in usage, a cultural human interaction, and an intimate way of communication, that brings along fun. This everyday ritual became the inspiration of the “acoustic tiles”. The porcelain tiles in different forms and conditions are the resultants of an analogue creation process of implying given rhythms. This is done with the help of a related tool set. The porcelain’s sound making and resonating surface is coded in the way that it contains a specific rhythm, only audible when activated via its actual use for communication. Each tile is hiding a communicational code, while triggering also an alternative use for creating individual sounds and rhythms.
